LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 78-year-old bicyclist has died two weeks after being struck by an SUV in North Las Vegas, police say.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:05 a.m. on Tropical Parkway and Losee Road on Friday, Aug. 2. Arriving officers located a female bicyclist with serious injuries and transported her to UMC Trauma Center.
An investigation revealed that a Chevy Trailblazer was driving east on Tropical Parkway, and struck the rear of a bicyclist. Police say the bicyclist was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Chevy’s driver remained at the scene, and police do not suspect impairment or speed to be factors in this crash.
On Friday, Aug. 16, at about 12:30 p.m., the Clark County Coroner’s Office informed NLVPD that the 78-year-old bicyclist had died.
