OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska State Patrol investigators arrested a Nevada homicide suspect and located over 250 suspected fentanyl pills, a news release said Monday.
The release says Samario Williams, 34, of Nevada, was stopped on Thursday morning at a local business in downtown Omaha. NSP said an investigator detected the odor of marijuana and observed that Williams was in possession of marijuana in plain sight.
As the investigator went to contact Williams, he attempted to flee.
In the chase, according to the release, Williams threw a small package of pills. Williams was detained and the pills were recovered. Once identified, Williams was found to have an active warrant for a homicide investigation in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Investigators determined that the small bag Williams threw contained 270 suspected fentanyl pills.
Williams was the lodged in Douglas County Jail for the warrant, flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance with an intent to deliver.
Nebraska State Patrol is coordinating with the Las Vegas Police Department for their investigation, according to the statement.
