LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Cheyenne High School’s football teams got a taste of life as professionals Thursday, courtesy of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders hosted the teams for some drills at their Intermountain Health Performance Center.
The high school’s varsity football and flag football teams were able to practice where the NFL team trains.
One coach told FOX5 the entire experience blew the student-athletes away.
“They come into an environment like this, and they’re not used to it, even on the bus ride over here, they were talking about it,” said Coach John Elliott for the flag football team.” They’d never been on a bus like that, so it was really good, we appreciate it.”
It got better, the Raiders presented the team with a $12,000 check!
Both the visit and check are part of the Raiders’ commitment to helping Las Vegas Valley high school football teams thrive, officials say.
In addition to contributing funds, the team runs clinics for both boys and girls and host the annual State Football Championship at Allegiant Stadium.
