LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The West Flamingo Senior Center has its very own work of art.
Monday morning, Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft joined in dedicating the mosaic “Mojave Mandalas” with artist Sierra Slentz.
Slentz collaborated on the piece with seniors during a series of community engagement workshops. Each mandala was crafted by workshop participants, drawing inspiration from the forms and colors of the Mojave Desert.
Naft says it’s as vibrant as those who visit the senior center.
“It is busting at the seams with people coming together enjoying everything from recreation to good food to good company to card games to everything else that goes on within here,” Naft said.
After the dedication, Naft declared Monday Sierra Slentz day in honor of the artist.
