LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas Valley nonprofit is celebrating a milestone for helping Southern Nevadans with a unique project to mark it.
Opportunity Village is celebrating 70 years and they are looking for items to put into a time capsule.
They will then bury this capsule at its new planned northwest valley campus this fall. Opportunity Village plans to open the capsule in 30 years when it reaches 100 years of operations.
“It’s our 70th year, and we are grateful to our community for their continued support. We have much to be thankful for this year, and we want to celebrate with the Las Vegas community,” said Bob Brown, president and CEO of Opportunity Village. “Our programs are more necessary than ever, and we will be around for a long time to serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southern Nevada.”
For those interested in putting something in, collection boxes are located at the front reception inside the following Opportunity Village locations.
- Opportunity Village Ralph & Betty Engelstad Campus, 6050 S. Buffalo Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89113
- Opportunity Village Linda Smith & Christopher Smith Family Campus, 6300 W. Oakey Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146
- Opportunity Village North Campus, 4180 W. Craig Road, North Las Vegas, NV 89031
- Opportunity Village Walters Family Campus, 451 E. Lake Mead Parkway, Henderson, NV 89015
The nonprofit says those who participate may not get their items back, and some items may not be included due to space.
