LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Search and Rescue crews made an early morning save on Thursday after a hiker became lost on Lone Mountain.
According to a social media post from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue, crews responded to the area around 3 a.m.
The subject was hiking with a family member but became separated and ventured off the trail, according to police. The subject also did not have adequate shoes for hiking and removed them once they became lost.
By the time police made contact with the hiker, they had also lost their shoes and flashlight. The hiker was provided with appropriate footwear and was guided back to the vehicle after their lost items were located.
The hiker was ultimately uninjured
LVMPD urged valley residents to always wear adequate footwear for hiking outdoors and highlighted how removing footwear can result in an injury.
