LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Culinary Union is still in the bargaining phase with Virgin Hotels Las Vegas after months of talks.
The union had its latest meeting with the hotel leaders on July 11th, but didn’t get far.

The Secretary-Treasurer of the union, Ted Pappageorge tells FOX5 over 80% of culinary union workers signed a petition and delivered it to hotel leaders at that meeting.
Pappageorge says they want a similar deal to every other casino on the Las Vegas Strip and downtown Las Vegas. That means more money and protecting union benefits like health care and pensions.
Pappageorge says Virgin is the only holdout.
”The workers have authorized the union to call a strike at any time,” Pappageorge said. “They’re still stuck on zero wage increases for most of the contract and that’s a real problem. We have a standard here.”
The last two-day strike happened in May, where around 700 food and hospitality workers walked off the job.
Virgin’s offer in May did include wage increases, but Pappageorge says they don’t take effect quickly enough.
He says both sides plan to meet again, but the union isn’t ruling out another strike if things don’t change.
“Our workers are united that they are not second class, and Virgin has to come to the standards here in Las Vegas, and they are still on zero wage increases for the first three years.”
Virgin’s offer did include wage increases, but only in years four and five. Virgin Hotel Union Members have been without a new five-year contract since June.
FOX5 reached out to Virgin Hotels Las Vegas for comment, and will update this story when we hear back.
