LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Stadium Authority Board met Thursday to discuss plans for the A’s move to the city and the new ballpark to be built at the Tropicana site.
During the meeting, FOX5 learned more details about where exactly the ballpark will be located — just northeast from the center of the site, facing the MGM Grand and the New York New York hotels.
Sandy Dean, representing A’s owner John Fisher, also said Ballys is still working on Phase 1 of planning for the resort that will be built on the site, but there’s still no timeline for when that could happen.
The board also heard an update on the A’s non-relocation agreement.
The old draft of the agreement proposed that the A’s could play up to seven regular-season home games a year outside the Las Vegas market.
However, in the new draft presented Thursday, that number was lowered to seven games over two years — with no more than four home games per regular season played outside the Las Vegas market.
FOX5 was told that those games will likely be held at international locations.
Stadium Authority lawyers also presented the first draft of a development agreement for the ballpark building, laying out the conditions that need to be met before taxpayer money can come into play.
