LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 57-year-old has been arrested following a crash that killed a pedestrian after midnight Tuesday.
Police said the crash happened at the intersection of June Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Officers responded after reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, a pedestrian was crossing Martin Luther King Boulevard north of the intersection and outside a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian would be later identified as 47-year-old male.
At the same moment, the driver of a 2012 Ford Fusion, later identified as Marc Du Shane Wesley, drove northbound on the same street and struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center with “serious” injuries, but would pass away at the hospital.
The identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
Police said Wesley did remain at the scene and showed signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center where he faces DUI charges resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance and driving without a license.
