LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – After pushback on a proposed gas station near a Southwest Valley neighborhood, plans appear to have changed course.
Plans to build the gas station within 40 feet of the Trail Ridge neighborhood, near Blue Diamond Road and Durango Drive, were given a green light by Clark County Commissioners in early May.
Trail Ridge residents openly opposed the plans, messaging County Commissioners, and even holding a protest at the end of May.
In a statement Wednesday, a Clark County spokesperson said, “Commissioner Jones has spoken with the developer of the project and, given the concerns raised by neighbors regarding the proximity of the approved fueling station to homes, encouraged the developer to consider an alternative compatible use.”
Trail Ridge resident Mike DiCamillo says he originally didn’t think this outcome was possible.
“If we didn’t stand up to this, and put all the hard work and elbow grease in to fight this fight, I think a gas station would have eventually been built there, and we would eventually have to move,” DiCamillo says.
DiCamillo says a meeting to discuss new plans for the lot is planned for next week.
