LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Valley has officially seen its hottest day ever.
The National Weather Service announced that Harry Reid International Airport 119 degrees around 3:13 p.m. Sunday.
It was less than an hour after the airport hit 118 degrees, at 2:33 p.m. Sunday, the all-time record. The previous record was 117 degrees.
The previous record of 117 was hit five previous times, according to the NWS: 2021, 2017, 2013, 2005 and 1942.
The all-time record comes amid a scorching heat wave, with temperatures above 110 degrees and often fighting daily records forecasted through at least July 13.
