LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A month after the CEO hinted at it, the Sphere has officially announced that “XO Audio” will debut during the Fourth of July.
The “Sphere Fourth of July Celebration” presented by Verizon will premiere six acts of all-new Exosphere visuals and a new audio experience, alongside a new livestream that will be available 24/7 on thesphere.com. The Sphere’s new sound system is described as “sound curated exclusively by Sphere Studios, synced to the movement of imagery on the Exosphere,” according to a release.
This news comes after Madison Square Garden Entertainment CEO Jim Dolan told investors during a Q3 Earnings Call in May that an audio component may be added to the Exosphere.
“We think that there’s more to do with the Exosphere. We think that we’ll be able this year, probably this summer, to be able to add an audio component that goes along with the Exosphere, which will make the medium even more attractive,” he said.
Additionally, the Sphere will be celebrating the first anniversary of the Exosphere’s first illumination.
Earlier in the evening, the Sphere will honor the Las Vegas-based student artists who participated in the Sphere XO Student Design Challenge with a special pre-show ceremony. The eight student winners whose art was chosen to appear on the Exosphere will be recognized, and their art will debut on the Exosphere during the ceremony before continuing to run throughout the summer.
“Sphere has become a global landmark that has redefined the live experience, including the Exosphere, a captivating platform for storytelling since it first illuminated last Fourth of July,” said Jim Dolan, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sphere Entertainment. “We’ve only scratched the surface of what Sphere is capable of both creatively and technologically. Now, with the addition of ‘XO Audio’ and ‘XO Stream,’ we are building on our commitment to immersive experiences that create a deeper multi-sensory connection – one that can be shared across the Las Vegas community and around the world.”
