LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Aviators defeated the Salt Lake Bees, 5-1, in the finale of the six-game homestand before a Father’s Day crowd of 5,117 at Las Vegas Ballpark.
Las Vegas split the series and improved to 35-34. Salt Lake dropped to 28-40.
Aviators right-hander Aaron Brooks recorded his second victory with 5.1 solid innings. He allowed 4 hits, 1 run, walked 1, and struck out 7 on 87 pitches (63 strikes).
Las Vegas shortstop/second baseman Armando Alvarez extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a 2-for-3, walk, run-scored performance. First baseman Drew Lugbauer (2-for-4, two runs scored) hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 5-1. Second baseman/left fielder Hoy Park was 2-for-4, double, and RBI.
Salt Lake right-hander Chase Silseth (ML rehab) suffered the loss. He pitched 5.0 innings, allowed 7 hits and 3 runs, walked 3, and struck out 4 on 78 pitches (47 strikes).
Bees center fielder Jordyn Adams was 2-for-4, RBI.
Following a PCL off day on Monday, June 17, the Aviators will embark on a Pacific Northwest six-game road trip to conclude the first half of the ‘24 season. Las Vegas will face the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, from Tuesday-Sunday, June 18-23.
