LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A rough couple of days and nights in sweltering heat for residents of the Three Crowns mobile home community in East Las Vegas.
The community for seniors lost power multiple times since Tuesday night.
While waiting for power to come back on Wednesday night, residents told FOX5, “We’ve lost quite a bit of food in our freezer, and this is the second day that we’ve been without power, it’s brutal, it’s very very hot but we’re trying to work together to help.”
Another resident would tell us, “They should have a more effective system of taking care of the residents, around here because it’s a lot of older people around here, like myself I got COPD I can’t breathe.”
“You’d think for a retirement community where people are having hospice in their home, they would take better care,” a third resident said.
A backup generator did provide power during part of the day on Wednesday and late Wednesday night.
When asked about the outage, NV Energy told FOX5, “Crews will remain on site until permanent repairs are made. We appreciate the patience and understanding of the residents while crews continue their work in these conditions.”
Power was restored to the property late last night, and continues to be operational into Thursday morning.
