LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Next Tuesday, Las Vegas voters will choose a new mayor.
For the first time in a quarter century, a Goodman will not be on the ballot. This week, FOX5 sits with the three leading candidates to replace Mayor Carolyn Goodman.
FOX5′s John Huck spoke with Las Vegas City Councilwoman Victoria Seaman.
Huck: What do you see as the biggest problems and challenges facing Las Vegas in the years ahead?
Seaman: One, affordable housing and our unhoused population. And it’s things we’ve been working on in the City Council as of now. And I think it’s important that we don’t end up like our neighboring cities. And I really believe that liberal policies don’t work.
Huck: I can hear some people saying there just isn’t enough water to build more housing. What would you say?
Seaman: I would say our federal delegation needs to get together and start working on that. I would call it a century-old treaty. It doesn’t work anymore.
Huck: Do you feel like things are improving at the Animal Foundation?
Seaman: What I do know is that it’s going to be fair for animals because we’re buying back the shelter. It’s been a decades-old problem. It’s nothing new. You need to have a facility that has good operational management. Over the decades, we’ve seen that the Animal Foundation has not had that.
