LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened in the west Las Vegas Valley in April.
Police said the crash happened on Sunday, April 28 around 5:55 a.m at the 215 Summerlin Parkway off-ramp and Far Hills Avenue. According to a release from the Nevada State Police, investigators with the Nevada Highway Patrol Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (MIRT) determined that the suspect fled the scene of the crash in a 2017-2021 Honda Civic.
The suspect’s vehicle was located in a Pahrump body shop and troopers in the area secured the vehicle. Evidence obtained during the investigation led to an arrest warrant for the suspect, Rachel Maria Terranova, a 27-year-old female from Las Vegas.
The pedestrian was identified as Darrel Redhawk Pingleton, a 35-year-old from Alpine, California. He died on the scene.
Terranova was taken into custody on May 30 and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. She has an appearance in Clark County Justice Court scheduled for August 5.
