LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 25-year-old woman is dead on Monday morning after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in the southwest valley.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department determined that the crash occurred around 12:27 a.m. on South Buffalo Drive and West Badura Avenue. Before the crash, a 2022 Mazda CX-5 was traveling north on Buffalo, while a female pedestrian was crossing Buffalo, north of Badura, outside a marked crosswalk.
The collision occurred when the pedestrian “darted” into the road, was struck by the front-left corner of the Mazda, and knocked forward, according to police.
The woman would later die at the scene.
Police say the driver of the Mazda remained at the scene but appeared to be impaired. The driver, identified as Yaniv Herscovici, 30, was arrested on DUI charges.
“The pedestrian’s death marked the 71st traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section”
