LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An act of vandalism at Winnemucca Mountain in Northern Nevada is being investigated by the Bureau of Land Management.
In a press release on Friday, the BLM announced that an investigation has been opened into an act of vandalism that occurred around May 12.
“Volunteers have offered to help with the clean-up and restore the viewshed of our community. But until the investigation is complete, we are unable to remove/disturb the graffiti until the investigation has concluded,” said Humboldt River Field Office Manager, John Mitchell.
In addition to the investigation, the BLM also noted plans to repair the damage in “the most expedient, environmentally friendly way.” Officials note that they want to permanently remove all evidence of the vandalism, but must consider the “current state of the area and what environmental effects, if any, the mitigation will have on future seasons and years.”
