LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – NV Energy says they are preparing for outages as Southern Nevada is forecasted to have high winds exceeding 50 mph.
NV Energy says customers could expect a proactive outage also known as a Public Safety Outage Management event as the public utility service says they could de-energize power for customers in high-risk zones to help protect communities and environments from wildfires.
In Mt. Charleston, NV Energy says elevated fire weather conditions are forecasted for the Kyle Canyon and Angel Peak areas. A proactive outage could impact about 500 NV Energy customers beginning Saturday at 11 a.m. and last for about 24 hours.
The service says the proactive outage could be adjusted or cancelled if weather conditions change.
Winds are expected to peak Saturday afternoon and overnight into Sunday. NV Energy says crews will be on standby to respond to possible outages.
