LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A bicyclist is seriously injured on Tuesday night after colliding with a car in central Las Vegas.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred at West Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Madeline Drive, around 3:21 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Chevrolet Impala attempted to exit a private drive to head east on Lake Mead, while a Wired Freedom e-bike was riding west.
While the Chevrolet was waiting for traffic to pass, the e-bike was riding on the south side of the road, opposing traffic. The collision occurred when the front of the e-bike struck the right-front fender of the Chevrolet.
The bicycle rider was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Police add that the driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.
“This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section,” LVMPD noted in a release.
