LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Tuesday, for the first time ever, Clark County will begin to issue permits for street food vendors.
It comes after a law passed last legislative session requiring them to do so and much debate about where and when they should be allowed to operate. One popular place for vendors in the past: VGK and Raiders games as thousands of fans filter out of T-Mobile and Allegiant. Street food vendors are now playing with a different set of rules trying to reach them.
Tuesday night, FOX5 saw showgirls, street performers and photographers, but no street food vendors from the Welcome Sign, up and down the Strip, nor near Toshiba Plaza.
In the past, it was a different scene. After a VGK game last March, FOX5 recorded video of a hot dog vendor pushing a cart near T-Mobile on the Strip surrounded by a crowd.
In January 2023, FOX5 also shared video of vendors after a Raiders game last year right outside Allegiant Stadium.
Earlier this month, Clark County voted unanimously on their street vendor ordinance and this part of the strip around T-Mobile arena falls within Clark County and county rules. The new Clark County rules which also create a path for vendors to apply for a license, require vendors operate at least 500 feet away from parks and schools and also place restrictions on selling on the Sand around local sports arenas.
Last year, the Nevada Legislature passed SB92 ordering cities and counties regulate the previously unpermitted street food vendor industry.
Tuesday, Clark County also said it will have a map showing where vendors will be allowed to sell from.
