LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas hotel room rates rocketed to a new record in February thanks in part to Super Bowl LVIII.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported that 3.37 million people visited Las Vegas for the month. That’s up 9.5% compared to February last year.
The average daily room rate surged by 40.6%, up to $248.35. The previous record room rate was $233.22 per day, which was set this past October.
In its executive summary, the LVCVA says the Super Bowl and an extra day for Leap Year helped boost tourism and rates.
Convention attendance jumped 15.3%, to 764,800 people with shows like the NAHB International Builders’ Show National Auto Dealers Association.
Hotel occupancy rose by 2.9 percentage points to 83.9%, even as room inventory ticked up by 2.9%.
The visitor volume and rates help paint a picture of the economic impact of Super Bowl LVIII, the first NFL championship game held in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Strip’s gaming win was up 12.4% for the month.
Passenger totals from Harry Reid International Airport for the month are also expected to be released soon.
